What is hmong dog?

The Hmong dog is a breed of dog that originated from the Hmong people, an ethnic group living in the mountainous regions of Southeast Asia. These dogs are used for hunting, guarding, and as a companion animal. They are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and agility.

Hmong dogs are medium-sized, muscular, and have a short, dense coat. They come in various colors, including black, white, cream, and yellow. Their ears are usually erect, and their tail is long and bushy.

These dogs have a strong prey drive and are skilled hunters, capable of chasing and catching small game such as rabbits and squirrels. They are also used for guarding livestock and homes. Hmong dogs are highly trainable and intelligent, making them a great choice for dog sports such as agility and obedience.

The Hmong dog is recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) under the name "Phu Quoc Ridgeback". However, they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) or the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) as a distinct breed.
